Broken bats needed

Former MN Amatuer Baseball Player Ben Bakeberg is looking for broken wood bats to be used for furniture such as bar stools, foot stools, display cases, etc.

Help with old photos

I have a shoebox from my great grandfather full of negatives in perfect condition of baseball games, players, and fields/stadiums. My great grandpa was, George Thompson, one of the founders of the umpires association. He took many pictures back in the '20s-'60s.

Is there anyone who could help me with this project? I need to identify and price what they are worth. Then I would like to start selling copies on paper to places. I need a partner to help me and I would share profits with this person. A lot of these negatives are from Minnesota teams, Chicago, Canada, New York and other places. 07/28/01 Board Meeting

MINNESOTA BASEBALL ASSOCIATION INC.

Minutes of Board Meeting July 28,2001 at Miesville and Red Wing

Meeting called to order by President Odman at 1:00 P.M., board members present were Odman, Fischer, Spanier, Roufs, Richter, Wegsheid, Brennan and Fiemeyer. Absent Zeliman.

Motion by Spanier, seconded by Fischer, carried, to accept minutes of June 9 meeting as mailed to all directors.

Motion by Fiemeyer, seconded by Wegsheid to purchase champion and runner-up trophies for the Bi-County League. Carried.

Motion by Odman, seconded by Brennan, admission prices will be $7.00 for adults, $3.00 for students, this price is good for all day. Board member in charge of tickets to check numbers of tickets sold in the 7th inning of the second game of each day. Tickets to be sold thru the 7th inning of the last game of the day. All fans wanting to go from one site to the other site -must must~be stamped when leaving. Carried.

Tournament passes: -3 week-ends $50.00Ý -- 2 week-ends $40.00.ÝÝ Students 3 week-ends $20.00 No change.

Motion by Fischer, seconded by Spanier to approve the tournament schedule as presented by Chairman Wegsheid. Carried.

Motion by Wegsheid, seconded Roufs to approve the umpire assignments for the first two week-ends. Carried.

Motion by Richter, seconded by Brennan to approve tournament sanctions for Alex Clippers, Coon Rapids and Victoria. Carried.

Motion by Fischer, seconded by Wegsheid to approve (Ken Borrell), (Derek Brandt) and (Tony Hoaglund) to play with the U.S.A. International team, (Nate Hoesher) and (Jason King) to play with the St. Cloud River Bats. All players must get their required number of league games in to be eligible for post season play. Carried.

The Board received a request from Clarissa Baseball Team to sponsor a wooden bat tournament with open rosters. Motion by Wegsheid, seconded by Roufs tournament to be allowed, but all teams rosters must be intact as recorded by state board secretary. Must file application and fees with state secretary and also notify the board of any non MBA teams playing in the tournament. Carried.

Motion by Roufs, seconded by Brennan to allow the following:

Green Isle to play Brookings, S.D., Prior Lake Jays to play Eau Claire and Perham to play Wyndmere, N.D. Carried.

Motion by Fischer, seconded by Wegsheid to allow Mike Landkamer to return to Mankato. Pro release. Carried

Motion by Richter, seconded by Fiemeyer to check bats for legality after request. Player using an illegal bat will be ejected from the game and an out will be called. Carried.

The board inspected both baseball parks and met with local tournament committees to discuss items for the tournament.

Next meeting of the MBA will be Thursday August 16 at 1:00P.M. at Treasurer Island with all representatives from Miesville and Red Wing.

Region and Section Commissioners make sure teams turn in their rosters before they play their first game, then send rosters to State Secretary immediately.

The board takes this time to wish all teams the best of luck in your playoffs.

Motion Spanier, seconded by Brennan to adjourn at 5:00P.M. Carried.
