01/05/02 Board Meeting

MINUTES OF BOARD MEETING

MEETING SITE HOLIDAY INN, ST. CLOUD

SATURDAY, JANUARY 5, 2002

Meeting called to order by President Odman at 12:00 p.m.

Roll call showed all directors were present.

Motion Brennan, seconded Wegscheid, carried to approve the minutes as mailed to directors.

Motion Richter, seconded Wegscheid, carried to appoint Greg Rossow as Region 13 Commissioner. Also, a big thank you to Tyrone Wacker for a great job over the years as Region 13 Commissioner.

Motion Fischer, seconded Forsman, carried to accept the resignation of Bob O'Neel as Section 8 Commissioner. Thanks Bob, great job.

Motion Brennan, seconded Fischer, carried to place an Ad in the MSHSL Coaches Handbook, $150.

It was brought to the attention of the board that the Eastern Minny Metro League has only two teams left in the league, Hamel and Coon Rapids. After some discussion, this business was tabled, should a league need teams here are two to contract.

The Bat Expo that was held in Bloomington last month went over quite well, around 70 teams attended.

There were 11 guests in attandance, all with an interest on what the MBA will be swinging in 2002. Dave Rocheleau, Joe Friedricks, Loni Berberich, Steve Huls, Chad Hess, Ralph Zwaschka, Larry Sakkinen, Ben Griffin, Dick Traen, Brian Larson, Monte Hinzmann. There were only two, Zwaschka and Hinzmann, that wanted to stay with aluminum. Rocheleau was not against going to wook but thought that teams should have been notified earlier or had a year's grace. Everyone else in attendance was in favor of going to wood. There also were numerous letters that were received, read, and duly noted. President Odman asked if anyone had anything else to add on the wood bat situation, if not the vote of the previous two meetings would stand. The MBA will use wood or composite bats starting the 2002 season. The use of aluminum bats will be out.

The board discussed umpire fees for the State Tournament. Motion Fiemeyer, seconded Wegscheid, carried that we pay an umpire $70 per game.

Motion Roufs, seconded Wegscheid, carried that we approve all changes made in the Constitution of our MBA Handbook.

The next MBA meeting will be March 16th at the Holiday Inn, St. Cloud at 1:00 p.m.

Then on Sunday March 17th the board will meet with all league officers, commissioners, and all parties interested in baseball. The new MBA Handbook will be reviewed, and league supplies will be handed out. This is a meeting everyone should attend. Remember: Sunday March 17, 2002, Holiday Inn, St. Cloud at 1:00 p.m. Mark in on your calendar.

There being no further business, motion Wegscheid, seconded Fiemeyer, carried to adjourn. Adjournmnent at 3:10 p.m.
