Help with old photos

I have a shoebox from my great grandfather full of negatives in perfect condition of baseball games, players, and fields/stadiums. My great grandpa was, George Thompson, one of the founders of the umpires association. He took many pictures back in the '20s-'60s.

Is there anyone who could help me with this project? I need to identify and price what they are worth. Then I would like to start selling copies on paper to places. I need a partner to help me and I would share profits with this person. A lot of these negatives are from Minnesota teams, Chicago, Canada, New York and other places. 06/17/06 Board Meeting

MINNESOTA BASEBALL ASSOCIATION, INC.

MINUTES OF THE BOARD MEETING SATURDAY, June 17, 2006 at Ultimate Sports in Waite Park

The meeting was called to order by President Richter at 1 p.m.

All directors were present.

Motion Brennan, seconded Wegscheid, carried to accept the minutes of the previous meeting as mailed.

The board met with Jeff Milene and Ed Miller, who represented the Rochester Tournament Committee.

Questions were asked by the board regarding the progress of the fields in Rochester (mainly Hudson Field), and if there were any concerns.

The board was told that Hudson Field was coming along, but there may be a problem with field availability at Mayo Field the first weekend.

If the Honkers make the play-offs, they will have first pick of the field. This could be games Thursday and Saturday, or just Friday. We would not know this until the Wednesday before the tournament starts.

The board suggested moving it to another site the first weekend, and then coming back, but Rochester didn’t think that would work.

They told the board that there was another park that could be used, which the college team played on, but, the board did not like the idea. Reasoning that Mayo Field was the selling point on getting the tournament, and to play on another field, they would need to install a press box, field box, bleachers, rest rooms, concession stand, and they could not sell beer on school grounds.

The board also questioned them regarding the grounds crew, and how much time they needed between games. They told the board they would have six men on the field, and it would take 25 to 30 minutes. They told us they could not use any tractors on the field. They had to rake it by hand. After a lengthy discussion, the board decided to remove Rochester from hosting the 2006 State Tournament.

President Richter thanked the two representatives for all the work they did, trying to get things worked out, and for their honesty in answering all the board’s questions.

There was a meeting June 21 at the Crossroads, formerly Kubes, in Norwood at 6 p.m.

Motion Roufs, seconded Rad-emacher, carried to approve the player questionnaire of Javier Guvare to play for Dundas.

Motion Hartmann, seconded Forsman, carried to approve the pro questionnaire of Brady Toops to play for New London-Spicer upon receiving all releases.

Motion Hartmann, seconded Wegscheid, carried to approve Fairfax to host its annual Twins Fun Night. No high school players will be allowed to play.

Motion Roufs, seconded Wegscheid, carried to disapprove Lucas Cain to play for the Fox Lake Foxes; he is eligible to play for Fairmont.

Motion Forsman, seconded Hartmann, carried to approve the Minneapolis Mallards (a new team) to play an independent schedule in 2006. They have submitted their schedule to the MBA regarding who they will play.

Motion Roufs, seconded Rademacher, carried to make Eric Scott ineligible to play for any team in the MBA for the 2006 season. Scott jumped his contract.

He must come before the board to be reinstated before being eligible to play in 2007.

Action on Soderville was next discussed, as they were the team that played Scott without a contract. Motion Roufs, seconded Barry, carried that because of their poor judgement for not complying with the rule on releases and contracts they will be assessed a fine of $200, and put on one year probation.

They will forfeit post season play. They will be allowed to come before the board to defend all sanctions.

Tom Tomashek came before the board, and talked about a new book that will be on the market this fall called “Glory Days.” It is about town-team baseball during the years 1945-1960.

The Twins are sponsoring an ‘Old Timers Day” Sunday, Sept. 10. They are planning to have at least one person from the championship team from the years mentioned in the book to be introduced on the field, the 2006 champions could be included.

Motion Rademacher, seconded Forsman, carried that Rick Schultheis would be eligible to play for Northfield, providing he is still a student at St. Olaf College.

Motion Forsman, seconded Roufs, carried to approve the following teams to play non MBA teams.

Canby: S.D. There was some discussion regarding an eligibility ruling the board made on Bailey Powell in April.

There was a motion by Hartmann, seconded Rademacher, carried that the ruling should be overturned, and Rowell be eligible to play for Becker.

Rowell graduated from Becker in 2005, then moved to Minneapolis with his parents. This past year, he was a student at St. Thomas, and lived part-time with a friend in Becker. Voting against the motion - Zellmann, Wegscheid, Forsman, motion passed.

If there are any umpires that would like to work the state tournament, have your application in by Friday, July 7. Send to Mark Forsman, 72065 240th Street, Dassel. MN 55325.
