Help with old photos

I have a shoebox from my great grandfather full of negatives in perfect condition of baseball games, players, and fields/stadiums. My great grandpa was, George Thompson, one of the founders of the umpires association. He took many pictures back in the '20s-'60s.

Is there anyone who could help me with this project? I need to identify and price what they are worth. Then I would like to start selling copies on paper to places. I need a partner to help me and I would share profits with this person. A lot of these negatives are from Minnesota teams, Chicago, Canada, New York and other places. June 12-15 Is A Huge Weekend For Tournaments

This weekend has the most sanctioned tournaments of any all summer long.  Dumont, Cannon Falls, Detroit Lakes, Chokio, Red Wing, Gaylord, Bemidji and Sobieski all having a tournament this weekend.


This weekend has the most sanctioned tournaments of any all summer long.  Dumont, Cannon Falls, Detroit Lakes, Chokio, Red Wing, Gaylord, Bemidji and Sobieski all having a tournament this weekend.

Cannon Falls starts off the festivities with a n eight team tourney beginning on Wednesday night as they square off against New Prague at 7:30 P.M.  On Thursday night the Rosemount Black Sox play the Lake City Serpents at 7:30 P.M.  Friday finds Edina E-Sox playing the Metro Merchants at 6:00 P.M. and the Minneapolis Rocks and Winthrop Eagles tangling at 8:30 P.M.  The losers play on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. and 12:30 P.M. while the winners play at 3:00 and 5:30 P.M.  On Sunday, the Consolation Championship is at Noon, third place game is at 2:30 P.M. and the Championship at 5:00 P.M.  www.cannonfallsbears.com.

Another tournament will take place right down the road at Red Wing.  The 21st Annual Dewey Tauer Invitational starts on Thursday with Red Wing playing Faribault at 6:00 P.M. and Rochester vs Hastings at 8:30 P.M.  On Friday it’s Plato vs Shakopee at 6:00 P.M. and Mankato vs St. Michael at 8:30 P.M.  Losers play on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. and 1:00/7:00 P.M.   Winners play at 4:00 P.M. and 1:00/7:00 P.M.  On Sunday, the Consolation Championship is at Noon, Third place at 2:30 P.M. and Championship at 5:00 P.M.     www.eteamz.com/redwingaces.

Detroit Lakes is having it first ever Angels Amateur Baseball Tournament.  There is one game Thursday, Detroit Lakes vs Perham at 7:30 P.M.  On Friday it’s Bluffton vs Vergas at 6:30 P.M. and Jamestown vs Wolf Lake at 8:30 P.M.  Saturday morning Crookston plays Jamestown at 11:00 A.M.  The losers play at 1:00 and 3:00 P.M.  Winners play at 5:00 and 7:00 P.M.  Sunday the 7th place game is 10:30 A.M., Consolation Championship at 12:30 P.M., Third place game at 2:30 P.M.   and the Championship at 4:30 P.M.  www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=dlangels.

Sobieski is having a four team round robin Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.  On Saturday the match-ups are:  Sauk Centre vs Sobieski at 11:00 A.M., Sobieski vs Midway Midway at 1:00 P.M., Lastrup vs Sauk Centre at 3:00 P.M. and Midway vs Lastrup at 5:00 P.M.  Sunday starts at Noon with Midway vs Sauk Centre and Sobieski vs Lastrup at 2:00 P.M.  www.sobieskiskis.com. 

Also in the Northland, Bemidji is hosting the 2008 Rosco Tournament.  On Friday, Bemidji plays Fort Ripley at 7:00 P.M. and Ada plays Wadena/Deer Creek at 9:00 P.M.  On Saturday, it is East Bethel vs Dent at 10:00 A.M. and Minneapolis Blue Sox vs Soderville at 10:00 A.M.  (two different fields).  Losers play at 1:00 and 4:00 P.M. at Carrington field and the winners play at the same times at BSU.  On Sunday, it is the 7th place and Consolation Championship at 11:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. respectively at Carrington.  The 3rd place and Championship are at the same times respectively at BSU.   www.ballcharts.com/bemidjimudcats 

Out West, there will be a lot of action at Chokio over the weekend.  On Friday night Chokio plays Wheaton at 7:30 P.M.  They are also having an old timers reunion in honor of their new lights.  They were one of the first teams in western Minnesota to install lights in 1948 and are just finishing up with their new lights installation this week.  Keith Zimmerman reminded me that Tom Kelly Senior played ball there in 1950 and Tom Kelly (the Twins former manager) was born in Chokio.  They are having a community picnic on Saturday morning and the young kids will be using the field for many activities, but as soon as that is over the tournament will continue.  Approximate times are:  Norway Lake/Sunburg vs Urbank-Parkers Prairie at 12:30 P.M.  The losers play at 3:00 P.M. and the winners at 6:00 P.M. for the Championship.

Dumont has a six team--two pool tournament starting Friday night when they take on Pelican Rapids at 8:00 P.M.  Saturday it is Sisseton SD vs Starbuck at 10:30 A.M., Luverne vs Dumont at 12:45 P.M., Canby vs Starbuck at 3:00 P.M., Pelican Rapids vs Luverne at 5:15 P.M., and Sisseton vs Canby at 7:30 P.M.  Sunday it is the 5th place game at Noon, 3rd place at 2:15 P.M. and the Championship at 4:30 P.M.   www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=saintsofdumont.

At Gaylord it is three seven inning games on Saturday.  At 1:00 it is Gaylord vs Chisago Lakes at 1:00 P.M., Chisago Lakes vs Kasson at 3:00 P.M. and Gaylord vs Kasson at 5:00 P.M.  www.gaylordislanders.com
