The Minnesota Baseball Board of Directors moved Plato to Class "B" for the 2008 baseball season at their May third meeting. This was in contrast to the January meeting when they allowed Plato to remain in class "C". At the May meeting the Board cited roster changes and "acting like a class "B" team" for the move.

This was in contrast to the January meeting when they allowed Plato to remain in class "C". At the May meeting the Board cited roster changes and "acting like a class "B" team" for the move.
Eric Engelmann, Plato manager, defended their moves by noting that they have only added players that were in their school district. Plato added Hunter Dunbar, a local that had played for Glencoe and is a senior at Glencoe-Silver Lake. They also added Matt Odegaard, a red-shirt freshman at Minnesota State, Mankato. Since being moved up to "B" Tyler Lang, a junior at GSL has also been added. "Where are we supposed to get our players if we can't sign local guys?" stated Engelmann. Almost all of the Plato players are local or within ten miles of the ballpark.
