Twenty-four tournaments have been sanctioned for this baseball season by the Minnesota Baseball Association Board of Directors. One has already been played.
Twenty-four tournaments have been sanctioned for this baseball season by the Minnesota Baseball Association Board of Directors. One has already been played. That one was held in Freeport. The Moorhead Brewers won it all by beating Belle Plaine, Avon, and Holdingford 8-3 in the final. Upsala was third, Avon fourth, and Freeport was fifth. Moorhead is 7-1 on the season and looks to be a force to be dealt with in class "C" this year.
The granddaddy of tournaments will be played in Dundas this weekend May 30, 31, and June 1. It is the 30th year of the Dundas Invitational Tournament. The tournament started in 1979. The Arlington "A's" won the first four tourneys. Hamel has also won the tournament four times in a row and Minnetonka is going for its fourth in a row this year.
Games start at 6:00 P.M. on Friday night with the Rochester Royals taking on Highland Park. At 8:30 P.M. St. Louis Park plays the Austin Blue Sox. Saturday it's Highland Park vs. Minnetonka at 11:00 A.M., Dundas vs. St. Louis Park at 1:30 P.M., Rochester vs. Minnetonka at 4:00 P.M. and Austin vs. Dundas at 6:30 P.M. Sunday finds the Pool A runner-up vs. the Pool B runner-up at 11:00 A.M. for third place and the Championship begins at 2:00 P.M.
